Spills Response Training objectives are to ensure participants know how to respond to a spill through containment, stopping, clean up, reporting and restoring the area, while governing the overall safety of themselves and others while also protecting the overall environment.

Spills Response Training Theory Outline (4 Hours):

  • The OH&S Act and regulation
  • Describe your responsibilities during a spill response
  • The Environmental Protection Act
  • Legal requirements and accountability
  • Recognize spill hazards and take prevention steps
  • Respond to a spill using available equipment
  • Recognize hazards that may be present during a spill
  • Know when you need to call in Team 1
  • Controlled response
  • Containing the spill
  • Stopping the spill
  • Know what to do after the spill (hazardous waste, clean up)
  • Clean-up and reporting
  • Restoring the area
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Spills response cart

Note. Addition 2 hours of training if practicals required. Spills Policy & Procedures to be provided for participants. Require access to spills cart and area for mock spill review/scenario.
